Cost-effective workplace nurseries in Crawley, Hove and Brighton.
We are seeking a motivated and hard-working individual to join our Facilities team as a Facilities Assistant at Horsham Hospital.

The successful candidate will work as an integral part of the departmental team, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach within the Facilities Department. This role involves performing portering and cleaning duties across all areas of the healthcare premises to the required standards, ensuring a safe and clean environment for patients, staff, and visitors. This position includes a considerable amount of manual handling and physical work.


Qualifications And Skills


  • Previous experience in cleaning, housekeeping, or portering roles is an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to handle manual tasks and physical work, including lifting and moving objects.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations related to cleaning and manual handling.

This role plays a key part in enhancing the efficiency of our service with multi-skilled staff to improve the patient experience.

The position is on a rota with 2 weekends out of 5 working.


Key Responsibilities


  • Cleaning Duties:
    • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and sanitizing in all designated areas.
    • Clean and disinfect bathrooms, kitchens, patient rooms, public areas, and offices.
    • Ensure all cleaning activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety guidelines and standards.
    • Dispose of waste appropriately, ensuring recycling protocols are followed.
    • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient rooms and common areas.
    • Replenish supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and cleaning materials.
    • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate department.
  • Portering Duties:
    • Assist with the transportation of patients and equipment within the premises.
    • Deliver medical supplies, records, and equipment to various departments.
    • Support with setting up rooms for meetings or events as needed.
    • Conduct regular checks on equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
