The following are the core responsibilities of the practice nurse. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. To develop, implement and embed health promotion and well-being programmes
b. To provide routine nursing care to patients as required in accordance with clinical based evidence.
c. To provide dressings and wound care to patients
d. To implement vaccination programmes for adults and children
e. To administer vaccinations (Baby / Child / Adult)
f. To provide travel medicine services (desirable)
g. To undertake Cervical Cytology Screening
h. Contraception and family planning (desirable)
i.To chaperone patients where necessary
J. To assist GPs with procedures when required
K. To prioritise health issues and intervene appropriately
L. To deliver opportunistic health promotion where appropriate

We are looking for an experienced practice nurse to work in conjunction with our existing nursing team which comprises of a Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Practice Nurse and Health Care Assistants (HCAs). Responsibilities will be for the delivery of practice nursing services, working as part of the practice multidisciplinary team, delivering care within their scope of practice to the entitled patient population. The practice nurse will be responsible for a number of clinical areas such as Cervical smears, Baby & adult General immunisations, dressing and wound care, health promotion, travel vaccinations, infection prevention and control.
