Main duties of the job

The ideal candidate would have experience in all areas of general practice nursing. You will be responsible for managing and providing care for patients, this will include:

  • Chronic disease management (training if not already proficient).
  • Wound treatments, dressings, compression bandaging and suture removal.
  • Child and adult immunisations.
  • Physical examinations, blood pressures, urine analysis, ECG's, venepuncture and ear examinations.
  • Patent health education and advice, including travel advice.
  • Support and maintain infection control standards and cold chain compliancy.
  • Oversee recall systems.
  • Work within NMC Code of Conduct and to agreed Practice standars and protocols.

We have a strong multi disciplinary team comprising of 3 GP Partners, Salaried GP's, GP Registrars, Medical Students, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nursing Team, Clinical Pharmacists, Healthcare Assistants and Phlebotomy. Job responsibilities

  • To provide a wide range of nursing services and treatments to patients registered within the practice, to include screening, advice and teaching within the professional competence of the post holder.
  • To be able to work autonomously using sound clinical judgement.
  • To provide and maintain high standards of evidenced based patient care and work within practice policies and protocols.
  • To work with and support the nursing team and wider clinical team.
  • To participate and support practice audit and research as appropriate.
  • Ensure safe storage, rotation and disposal of vaccines and drugs.
  • Work with safeguarding teams in regards to identification and signposting where appropriate.
  • To maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records.
  • Emergency management - competent in anaphylaxis and resuscitation techniques.
  • Participation in an annual appraisal.
  • Attend and participate in practice meeting and training when required.
  • Any other delegated duties appropriate to the role and/or as deemed appropriate for development.
