As a Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (Band 4) with Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust you will support children and young people across Hertfordshire from early years through to further education, working in community clinics and both mainstream and specialist schools. Based at Howard Court, Welwyn Garden City (AL7) with posts in centres including Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Watford, Hertford, Waltham Cross, Hatfield and Stevenage, this permanent full‑time or part‑time role (salary £27,485–£30,162 pa pro rata, plus a High Cost Area supplement) involves delivering individual and group therapy programmes under SLT supervision, developing resources, using IT and completing administrative tasks. You will collaborate with teachers, teaching assistants and health visitors, and have opportunities to work with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems; essential requirements include GCSE English and Maths, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent training in child development, experience with children (including those with communication needs), and a full driving licence with access to a car unless exempt. The post is subject to a DBS check and applicants should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a locality SLT team committed to evidence‑based, neuro‑affirming and communication‑friendly practice.
