Theatre Support Worker - Colchester with East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Foundation Trust offers a hands-on role supporting patients and theatre teams at Colchester General Hospital (CO4). Available at Bands 2 and 3, these permanent roles can be full- or part-time and include a Band 2 salary of £24,465–£26,598 per annum pro rata; apprenticeship routes (Level 2 and Level 3) and clear progression pathways mean the role is ideal for people keen to develop a healthcare career. You will help prepare and reassure patients, support clinical staff in a busy theatre environment and contribute to smooth, compassionate care before, during and after procedures. The post suits carers and those with strong people skills—particularly women returning to work or balancing family caring responsibilities—as well as applicants without prior clinical experience who are ready to train. Please note you must be 18 or over to work shifts including nights.

An assessment day will be held in Colchester on 20 November 2025 (location TBC) as part of the selection process. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK (sponsorship cannot be offered) and will need to meet pre-employment checks including satisfactory DBS, occupational health clearance and references covering the last three years. ESNEFT is one of the largest NHS organisations locally and offers structured training, flexible working options, a generous pension, unsocial hours payments where applicable, 27 days’ annual leave on commencement (pro rata) and staff health and wellbeing support. If you are organised, approachable and sensitive to others’ needs with a good level of maths and English (NVQs desirable or willingness to train), this role provides meaningful, well-supported work in a modern NHS setting.
