The Integrated Assessment Centre is a 24 bed unit which takes medical, surgical and urological referrals in from the Emergency Department, Urgent Care and community services. This is a busy fast paced unit with a daily turnover of up to 40-60 patients.
The nursing team have been established over the last five years and are professional, knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. The is a real 'team' atmosphere on the unit which is reflected in our excellent retention of staff and high fill rate of job vacancies.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join our team on IAC. You will be responsible for day to day co-ordination of busy shifts and will be working closely with the emergency department and the corporate site and bed management teams in order to ensure flow through from the ED to IAC and then to the wards. You will also manage patient groups as required and be responsible for the nursing and care needs of those individuals.
You must be able to communicate at all levels, be a strong patient advocate and have a good understanding of the principles of general medical and surgical nursing care. The position involves working a flexible shift pattern of days, nights and weekends. IAC is a very busy unit and will provide the successful candidate with plenty of opportunities to gain and build on clinical skills and share knowledge gained in previous areas. Training and career development opportunities will be available including ALS, ketone training, SSSA, DKA, Cardiac Monitoring. Additionally, there will be various opportunities to develop managerial knowledge including rostering, recruitment, appraisals, absence management and Datix investigations.
