The University’s Catering, Conferences & Events Service provides a diverse range of services to customers, including hospitality catering, vending, cafés, restaurants, meeting rooms and banqueting which are located throughout the University.
This role is primarily concerned with the service of food and drink to Cardiff University’s Hospitality and Events service, being in constant contact with customers and hospitality staff. Responsible for delivering excellent customer service at all times whilst working as part of the wider Hospitality team to help deliver successful events.
Salary:
£12.16 per hour
Full time, open ended contract - 35 hour per week.

Job Description
Main Duties
- Prepare, deliver and set up all requirements for Cardiff University Hospitality and Event catering in line with the standard operating procedures and daily function sheets. This will include the preparation and service of formal lunches, buffets and refreshment services; in line with departmental standards and will include all food and drink services.
- Deal directly with a wide range of customers, including students, staff, visitors, and VIPs, providing a courteous, efficient and a high level of customer service. Using initiative to provide solutions when appropriate or escalating to the manager.
- Monitor portion control and ensure knowledgeable on allergen information for each service. Ensuring compliance with food safety legislation, including Natasha’s Law.
- Prepare the equipment and buffet crates, paying particular attention to matching booking sheet to equipment and food/drink required, ensuring accurate allergen labels are included and match the menu details on booking sheet, stock rotation, ensuring standards and stock levels are always maintained.
- Cleaning and maintenance of all equipment, kitchens, vehicles and service areas, in line with cleaning schedules and food safety policy. This will include all associated equipment and loading bay areas.
- Preparation of food and beverages in accordance with standard operation procedures. This includes set up of catering areas, serving and clearing tables. Raising daily orders as required, checking and signing for deliveries from suppliers.
- Work at cash bars. Cash handling, to ensure the safe keeping of cash floats and operating the cash register throughout the service. Ensuring all processes are adhered to in line with cash handling Policy and Procedures and Licensing Legislation.
- To work in any area of Cardiff University Hospitality and Events according to the demands of the business.
- The above is not an exhaustive list of duties; therefore, you will be required to perform other duties as instructed which are consistent with the purpose of the role and its grade.
- Participating in Quality and Customer Care initiatives.
- Participating in essential training and identifying any personal training needs with the team leader.
