We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a passion for animals to join us as a
Veterinary Receptionist / Patient Care Assistant

working across our 2 practices, Petherton Veterinary Clinic and Marlborough Road Veterinary Centre.



Location:
Cardiff


Contract:
Permanent


Hours:
40 hours per week. The role will consist of 20 hours dedicated to PCA duties and 20 hours for Receptionist responsibilities.


Shift Pattern:
Monday - Friday between 08.00 - 19.00 and will also include a share in the Saturday rota 08.30 - 14.30

About The Role


The Receptionist and Patient Care Assistant role is one of the foundations of an outstanding veterinary practice, and as such you will be involved in supporting our team of qualified RVNs and Vets to provide outstanding care to our patients and clients.


Some Of The Duties Will Include


  • Answering the telephone, booking appointments and processing prescription requests
  • Dealing with clients at the reception desk, taking payments and dealing with enquiries
  • Accurately recording client and animal information on our IT system, so good IT skills would be preferable
  • Cleaning duties are involved
  • Animal handling
  • Assisting Vets and Nurses in restraining animals for treatment
  • Cleaning, walking and feeding patients


What we're looking for in our Veterinary Patient Care Assistant:


  • An excellent communicator with strong empathy
  • Excellent customer service skills and experience in dealing with members of the public
  • Experience in animal welfare, including feeding, cleaning, medicating and handling and a high level of understanding of how to meet the welfare needs of animals
  • Resilient with the ability to cope with potentially distressing and emotional situations
  • Previous Receptionist experience would be preferable but not essential
  • A positive attitude and excellent teamwork skills
  • Experience in looking after animals in a veterinary environment would be desirable
