Due to our present Band 6 moving on we have a vacant full-time position within the Supportive care side of the Macmillan Centre team, Would suit a Registered nurse or Allied Health profession with cancer care/palliative care experience.

  • To be responsible for the person-centred assessment, planning, implementation and referral pathway and ongoing review and evaluation of the needs of patients with life threatening conditions and their carers, throughout their Centre journey.
  • To organise and facilitate group work for the benefit of this target group of patients and carers.


To work with the Centre Manager to provide an accessible and integrated cancer information service


  • 1.1 To maintain accurate and up-to-date records on all clients to ensure documentation meets agreed standards.
  • 1.2 To undertake holistic assessment and together with clients plan a programme of interventions according to their identified need, whilst utilising your clinical skills and knowledge of supportive and palliative treatments.
  • 1.3 To have a knowledge and understanding of ancillary services for referring and signposting according to need.
  • 1.4 To ensure that each individual care package is evaluated and reviewed in conjunction with the client and in line with the policies and procedures within the service.
  • 1.6 To develop, organise and facilitate therapeutic groups/sessions to support clients in response to client recognised needs.
  • 1.7 To take appropriate action to deal with emergency situations and significant events.
  • 1.8 To communicate relevant information to clients.
  • 1.9 To develop and update clinical policies and procedures.
  • 1.10 To assist the Centre Manager in providing an accessible and integrated cancer information service.
