Are you a qualified Clinical/Practitioner Psychologist interested in neuropsychological assessment and brief interventions? Do you enjoy working with people with a range of suspected or diagnosed neurological conditions, including acquired, progressive and functional neurological conditions? Would you like a role with a balance of in-person and remote working, in a small and friendly team? Come and work with us at the Royal Free London.

Clinical work focuses on diagnostic neuropsychological assessments and brief interventions with patients experiencing a broad range of acquired and progressive neurological conditions. You will advise patients and their relatives/carers about ways of managing cognitive difficulties, and support development of group psychoeducation/cognitive rehabilitation interventions to enhance intervention elements of the service. You will provide detailed assessment reports, shared with patients, referrers and other healthcare professionals to support diagnostic processes and onward care.

Whilst working autonomously, you will be joining an expanding and supportive neuropsychology team. Our ethos is for every member of the team to grow as a clinician and a leader, and to be enabled to maintain their wellbeing in work. Supervision will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, which can be used towards specialist neuropsychology qualifications if you wish. You will join our regular journal clubs as well as wider Psychological Therapies, Neuropsychology & Counselling (PTNC) network meetings across the Royal Free. We have close links with the North Thames DClinPsy training courses, and encourage all colleagues to offer placements and deliver teaching.

The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK’s biggest and most innovative trusts. As a clinician you will be embedded within your MDT and the neuropsychology department and simultaneously also belong to a group of over 40 PTNC colleagues who work within a variety of medical specialties across the Trust (including Cancer & Palliative Care, Cardiology, Dermatology, Diabetes, HIV, ICU, Immunology and Rare Disease, Nephrology and Liver Transplantation, Neurology, Pain, Plastic Surgery, Respiratory, and Women’s Health). Priorities for the PT&C leads are ensuring each clinician has the support necessary for their role, including access to varied specialist supervision, line management and professional development. They actively work to create a PTNC community that encourages dialogue, learning from each other and mutual support, and showcasing good practice, innovation, and research. We welcome new staff who share our values of working together and supporting each other to join us in the PTNC community.
