Job summaryPaston Surgery serves a population of over 6500 patientsin North Walsham and the surrounding area. Our HCAs are an essential part of ourNursing Team and support other clinical staff and practice management.
We are looking for a part-time HCA (15 to 35 hours) with excellent clinical,communication and service skills to join our friendly Nursing Team. This is a permanentposition and subject to a six-month probationary period.
Main duties of the job
Typical duties include phlebotomy, ECGs, BP checks,INR monitoring, dressings, assist with LTC reviews, maintain stock levels, complete health checks, chaperonewhen required, administrative support, patient data entry etc. Please see theJob Description for more details.
Candidates must be service-minded, driven to help othersand make the patient experience as straight forward as possible. Confidence in talking to patients withdiverse needs is required and excellent communication skills are required. Itis essential to be organised, efficient, adaptable and flexible in a fast-paced working environment.
Working hours are 20 - 30 per week andwill be during the hours of 8.30am and 6.30pm Monday to Friday. The exactpattern will be discussed with you and flexibility for change is essential.

There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
a. Undertake new patient health checks
b. Undertake NHS Health Checks (40 to 74 years)
c. Support the practice with health promotion programmes
d. Carry out baseline observations such as urine analysis, pulse oximitery, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rate, recording findings accurately
e. Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
f. Undertake wound care, dressings and other clinical tasks as required
g. Support the practice nurse with the management of chronic disease clinics
h. Carry out BMI checks as directed
i. Act as a chaperone as required
j. Undertake venepuncture
k. Administer vaccinations
l. Carry out ear irrigation under the supervison of the practice nurse

n. Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
o. Provide support during minor operations as required
