An exciting, short-term post for LED ST3+ Trust Dr Gastroenterology at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust offers hands-on experience across luminal and liver services in a supportive, patient-centred department. You’ll join a busy, JAG‑accredited Endoscopy unit performing around 15,000 procedures a year, acting as a spoke for the North‑West Endoscopy training academy and the administrative hub for Lancashire’s Bowel Cancer Screening. This role is ideal for clinicians with MRCP and full GMC registration who want strong clinical exposure, protected CPD time, and the chance to contribute to audit, quality improvement and NIHR‑supported research — a practical route to advance a gastroenterology career and secure wider training opportunities.
The post is six months, full‑time, salaried at £65,048 per annum and based at Blackpool (FY3 8NR). Duties include supporting inpatient and outpatient transformation, participating in a 7‑day gastroenterology in‑reach service, on‑call commitments on a rotational basis, and supervised endoscopy training (6–8 unit lists tailored to trainees). Clinics follow an RCP‑based template (12 patients; 15–20 minutes each), with clear admin and appraisal time built in to help plan family and life commitments.
