An exciting fixed-term opportunity at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invites a Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in lower limb trauma and skin oncology to work from the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle upon Tyne (NE1 4LP). You will deliver microsurgical reconstruction across extremity trauma and oncology pathways, work closely within multidisciplinary teams to streamline the surgical journey in melanoma care, and foster links with regional centres. The post is full-time for 12 months at Consultant grade (Hospital medical and dental staff), with a salary range of £109,725–£145,478 per annum, and offers access to state-of-the-art diagnostics and flagship services across Freeman Hospital, the Northern Centre for Cancer Care and other regional sites.

This role is for an experienced surgeon with a primary medical qualification, full GMC registration and a microsurgical fellowship, plus logbook evidence of major lower limb reconstruction; entry onto the GMC Specialist Register within six months of the AAC is required. You’ll be expected to contribute to service development, teaching, research and audit and to take clinical leadership within a tertiary centre.
