A three‑month locum Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal Surgeon post is available at North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust, based at University Hospital North Tees, Stockton on Tees TS19 8PE. You will join a team of 17 consultant surgeons delivering both emergency and specialist elective general surgery across Teesside, working collaboratively with colleagues in South Tees. The role requires full‑scope laparoscopic Upper GI experience to manage gallbladder and CBD pathology, gastro‑oesophageal reflux disease and para‑oesophageal hernia, and includes participation in a one‑in‑twelve on‑call rota. The post is offered at 10 PAs and will help further develop the elective Upper GI and biliary services across the Trust.
Applicants must hold a registered medical qualification, FRCS (or equivalent), be GMC‑registered with a licence to practise and be on the Specialist Register (or within six months of CCST). JAG accreditation for diagnostic gastroscopy is beneficial. The position is full‑time but part‑time applicants will be considered; an Enhanced DBS check applies. Salary is pro rata £109,725–£145,478 depending on experience.
