Job description
Mushkil Aasaan is seeking a part-time Male Peer Support Worker (0.5 FTE) based in Upper Tooting, SW17, to support the Trust’s Community Mental Health Transformation Programme. This permanent role (salary £13,035 pa) uses your lived experience of mental health to deliver short-term, person-centred 1:1 and group peer support that promotes early intervention, prevents crisis and helps people step down from more intensive clinical care. Responsibilities include conducting holistic wellbeing assessments, developing peer plans, monitoring outcomes, keeping accurate records, making safe time-limited endings to support, and linking people into community resources. The role requires travel across Wandsworth, occasional home visits, regular supervision and reflective spaces, competency with Microsoft tools and data systems, and a satisfactory DBS check. Mushkil Aasaan is a CQC-regulated, culturally sensitive community organisation with roots in grassroots work and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
This post is designed for people who can draw on their own recovery journey to offer empathetic, non-judgemental support — ideally those with experience of providing emotional or practical 1:1 help and a strength-based approach. Flexible hours, funded training and close team supervision make this a strong option for carers and people balancing family responsibilities who want meaningful, community-centred work. You’ll work alongside clinical teams and local partners to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing, in an environment that values cultural understanding and shared lived experience. The vacancy is listed on jobsincare.com; please click the "Apply Now" button alongside this advert to submit your application.
