As a Materials Management Assistant at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust (Poplar Grove, Stockport, SK2 7JE) you will be a key member of the Procurement Materials Management team, providing an efficient stock ordering and put‑away service to restock wards and departments. The role is practical and hands‑on — around 70% of the work is physical, involving moving and handling products, walking across site, working in stores and processing returns. You will use NHS Supply Chain and local stock management systems to process requisitions, monitor availability and delivery times, record discrepancies, reallocate surplus stock and support product changes from rationalisation or supplier updates. Good communication, customer service and basic IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook) are required; relevant procurement or stock control experience and GCSEs (or equivalent) are desirable. A Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required.

This permanent, full‑time Band 3 position (salary £24,937–£26,598 pro rata) offers real security and a strong NHS benefits package — 27–33 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays, NHS pension, salary sacrifice options, staff discounts, cycle‑to‑work and local credit union support. The Trust values diversity and flexible working, so the role suits organised, practical carers and women returning to work or balancing family commitments who prefer a fulfilling non‑clinical role supporting patient care.
