This is an exciting opportunity for driven and motivated Maternity Care Assistants to join our Maternity Team working in the Antenatal Clinic Outpatients unit at our Darlington site.
You will be supported and welcomed into your role and we are keen to develop our staff to deliver exceptional care to the families of County Durham and Darlington.
We are looking for a enthusiastic and hard working Maternity Support Worker who is committed and passionate in providing care during pregnancy, birth and postnatally in a hospital setting. This important role will include caring for women, birthing people and their families throughout the antenatal and postnatal period and will include working alongside the midwifery team to provide education, support and care to mums and babies in the Antenatal Clinic setting. Safety of our women and babies is paramount, and so we are looking for caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic staff members to join our Team.

The role of community Maternity Care Assistant includes supporting with the day to day running of the maternity team, including administrative duties, therefore knowledge of computer skills is desirable. You will be caring for women and birthing people within our inpatient settings to provide a range of antenatal and postnatal support, including infant feeding support. You will also be involved in parent education and discussions on health promotion, with a strong focus on the Public Health Agenda.
Key skills include to being a good team player, committed, kind, approachable, dependable and reliable. Practical skills would include being able to take manual Blood Pressures and venepuncture skills. An understanding of the key public health messages around smoking, health lifestyle in pregnancy and infant feeding knowledge would be desirable.
