Band 6: £37,338 to £44,962 a year pa pro rata  PERMANENT  GOOD SALARY 

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner Team as a Mental Health Practitioner based in Lichfield, Staffordshire.

If you hold a professional registration in nursing, occupational therapy, or social work, and are interested in creating a responsive and holistic mental health service within a primary care setting this may be the role for you.

Significantly more investment in Voluntary, Non-statutory services is being made as part of our transformation work, to help support you in helping your patients access the services they need. To drive this programme forward we need qualified mental health professionals who have the passion, enthusiasm, and skills to be part of this exciting, new way of providing community mental healthcare.

It's an exciting time to join us as we are a developing service, and you will play a pivotal role in support in the development of this service.

You will work with one or more primary care networks in the South Staffordshire area to provide assessment and brief intervention treatment for individuals presenting with mental health needs and will carry out mental health assessments following agreed practice guidelines as part of a Primary Care Network Team.

You must be fully qualified in the appropriate profession and registered with the relevant professional body. You must be able to travel independently across a large geographical area.

As a Mental Health Practitioner, you will undertake the development, implementation and review of care planning and risk management. Delivering a high-quality clinical service to Service Users, their Families and Carers in primary care.

As part of this role, you will be expected to:

  • Assessing people's mental health needs within a primary care setting.
  • The delivery of brief, short term, and low intensity psychological interventions for people with common mental health disorders.
  • Mental Health promotion involving the development of effective relationships between primary care and local communities and other services in the voluntary and statutory sector.
  • Provision of support and advice to GPs and other primary care providers.
  • Bridging the gap between primary care and other provider services to ensure fast and effective response times for those accessing services.
  • Demonstrate an attitude which respects the core values of the organisation and the principles of Recovery.

Would you like to get a first-hand experience of the role and spend a couple of hours experiencing the day in the life of a PCN MHP in a GP Surgery. To arrange this, you must be an RMN (Registered Mental Health Nurse), OT (Occupational Therapist), or Social Worker Band 6 or a highly-skilled Band 5 and have successfully completed your preceptorship.
