Job description
As Paediatric Community PPA at Epsom Hospital (Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust), you will provide vital administrative and clerical support for the paediatric team, acting as the first point of contact for patients’ pathways from referral through to treatment or discharge. The role centres on scheduling and booking duties using patient administration systems (including Choose and Book), inputting referrals, maintaining clinicians’ diaries, arranging appointments and rescheduling cancellations to meet NHS waiting-time standards. You will take pre-assessment calls to check medication, allergies and transport, manage correspondence and medical records, collate statistics for management and support the Safeguarding Paediatric Service Coordinator when required — all while protecting patient confidentiality and ensuring children are seen in the right place, by the right person, at the right time. Permanent, part-time, Band 3: £29,651–£31,312 pa (incl. HCAS Outer), pro rata. This post requires standard DBS clearance and a good standard of English and IT literacy.
This opportunity is ideal for organised, compassionate carers and women seeking a family-friendly, meaningful administrative role within a supportive clinical team. If you have customer-care experience, strong keyboard and database skills and a calm, reliable approach to child-focused work (GCSE English grade C or equivalent is essential; safeguarding knowledge and ECDL are desirable), you’ll quickly become a trusted contact for families and clinicians. The post sits within a large hospitals group that values staff development and training, giving you room to grow while making a practical difference to young patients’ journeys.
