Make a real difference to children’s communication as a Paediatric Speech and Language Therapy Assistant with York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at York Hospital (YO31). You’ll support Speech and Language Therapists to deliver and continue tailored therapy programmes in hospital, community, school and home settings, assisting with caseloads, delivering group interventions, supporting training and liaising with other professionals and agencies. This role suits a caring, patient person who enjoys working with children, has Level 2 English and maths (or equivalent) and a passion for learning; practical experience in health, social care or education is desirable. The post offers hands-on development and a clear pathway towards becoming a Speech and Language Therapist — the previous postholder has gone on to train as an SLT.

This fixed-term, full-time Band 3 position (12 months) pays £24,937–£26,598 pro rata and is supported by the Trust’s strong staff benefits: NHS pension, 27–33 days holiday (depending on service), relocation support where applicable, an Employee Assistance Programme, staff discounts and wide learning and development opportunities. The Trust values inclusive, flexible working and offers support for carers — a DBS disclosure is required.
