Job Summary for Phlebotomist Healthcare Assistant SAU at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust
Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a dedicated Healthcare Assistant Phlebotomist to join the Surgical Division at Worcester Royal Hospital. This part-time position requires 18 hours of work per week, with shifts scheduled from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM, as part of a 7-day service.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collect blood samples from inpatients with precision and care.
  • Collaborate with medical teams to prioritize and organize sample collections.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of samples.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Mentor and supervise new Phlebotomy team members.
  • Participate in service development and modify Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assess patient identities and confirm details on request forms.
  • Handle patient concerns and obtain consent for blood collections.
  • Carry the In-House Phlebotomy bleep and address issues promptly.
Key Requirements:
  • Competency as a phlebotomist.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Adherence to trust policies regarding patient care and safety.
