Job description
Dr A Sulakshana and Partners (Barton Surgery)is looking to welcome an experienced and qualified phlebotomist into our busy practice, to support our nursing team. The position is offered on a part-time basis for the following hours and days; Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8.30am - 12.30pm.
- Working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols toassist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care;
- Collecting samples of blood in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording and efficient dispatching of samples;
- Ensuring that the patient is as comfortable and relaxed as possible, and confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample;
- Checking patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirming with the patient whenever possible;
- Ensuring that anomalies are reported to a senior member of staff;
- Notifying the GP of any significant patient issues;
- Liaising with and assisting members of the administrative team.
