PERMANENT
Job description
Help people regain independence after planned orthopaedic surgery as a Physiotherapy Technical Instructor at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at the Royal Victoria Infirmary. This part‑time, permanent Band 3 role (27 hours 45 minutes per week) works regular shifts Wednesday to Saturday with Bank Holiday and twilight cover on a rota. You will manage a designated caseload of non‑complex patients—mainly those recovering from hip and knee replacements, ACL repairs and occasional trauma support—working under the supervision of a registered physiotherapist to deliver assessments and tailored, protocol‑led interventions. The post demands practical moving and handling skills, compassion for patients often in pain, and strong teamworking to deliver safe, effective care.
This role suits experienced carers, therapy assistants and those returning to work who value hands‑on, meaningful work and flexible arrangements that fit family life. The Trust is flexible about working patterns, offers a supportive team environment across flagship services, and provides opportunities to develop your technical skills; DBS clearance and relevant technical qualifications (for example NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) are required. Pay is £24,937–£26,598 pro rata, and full role details and benefits are available when you apply.
