As a Qualified Mental Health Practitioner with Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust based in Chelmsford CM2 0QH you will work as a Liaison and Diversion Practitioner across Essex police custody suites and courts. The role involves conducting screenings and assessments from age 10 upwards, producing written reports and court recommendations, and working closely with police, courts and probation to divert vulnerable people away from the criminal justice system. You will work autonomously within a multi‑agency team, delivering specialist interventions for people in immediate mental health need; a full driving licence, police vetting clearance and DBS checks are required.
This full‑time, fixed‑term Band 6 role (salary £38,682–£46,580) offers a flexible county‑wide shift pattern — typically three long days (07:30–20:00) in custody or 09:00–17:00 in courts — that can suit carers juggling family commitments. The Trust supports staff with childcare voucher schemes, season ticket loans, NHS discounts, wellbeing and counselling services, strong training links with universities and active equality networks. If you’re a registered RMN or RNLD with post‑qualification experience and want a hands‑on, clinically rewarding role, click the Apply Now button alongside this advert to apply; you can also find this vacancy on jobsincare.com.
