Job description
Lead the Radiology Assistant team for Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust as Radiology Department Assistant Lead, based at Alexandra Hospital, Redditch, with countywide responsibility across Worcester Royal, Kidderminster, Evesham, Malvern and Princess of Wales Bromsgrove sites. You will manage daily e‑rostering and staffing to ensure safe cover across CT, MRI, ultrasound, plain film, DEXA and nuclear medicine, while working clinically to maintain your skills. The role combines operational leadership with hands‑on patient care — supporting radiologists, sonographers and radiographers, assisting with venepuncture and cannulation, preparing for interventional procedures, ensuring radiation and MRI safety and promoting dignified, empathetic communication for patients and carers.
This post is ideal for an experienced Senior Radiology Assistant or equivalent (RDA/HCA) ready to step into a Band 4 leadership role, with proven roster management and clinical competence; essential qualifications include GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and maths, NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and venepuncture/cannulation certification. The position is permanent, available full‑time or part‑time, and offers a salary of £27,485–£30,162 (Agenda for Change Band 4) with flexible working supported by the Trust’s Timewise accreditation — you should be prepared to work weekends and bank holidays as required. The Trust values development, mandatory training, quality improvement and professional supervision; the post is subject to a DBS check (the cost may be deducted from salary).
