Job description
Work as a Receptionist / Trauma Booking Coordinator at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge (CB2). This part‑time role (15 hours per week) places you on the front reception of a busy Plastic Surgery Day Unit that sees around 50 outpatients and day‑case patients daily. You will greet and check in patients, arrange and manage appointments, handle a high volume of telephone enquiries and liaise with patients, relatives and clinical teams. The post is Band 3 (Agenda for Change) with a pro‑rata salary of £24,937–£26,598 and is offered as a secondment; a Disclosure and Barring Service check is required. The Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this post. The ideal applicant is organised, calm under pressure, confident with basic IT and telephone communication, numerate and literate (GCSE level or equivalent) and either experienced in outpatients/reception work or keen to learn — this role offers structured support within an established team and clear opportunities to develop new skills in an interesting specialty.
This role is particularly well suited to women and carers seeking meaningful, flexible work that fits family and caring commitments: shifts and hours can be flexible and the Trust supports arrangements such as part‑time working, job‑share and term‑time patterns. Staff benefits include on‑site day nurseries, reduced cost Stagecoach travel, free Park & Ride routes to key sites, subsidised parking for eligible staff, 24/7 subsidised catering and dedicated colleague break spaces, plus ongoing development opportunities. Cambridge University Hospitals is proud of its inclusive values — Safe, Kind, Excellent — and supports a diverse workforce.
