Job description
Bay View Childcare in Lancaster is looking for Residential Childcare Support Workers to deliver full-time, permanent care (40 hours per week) in small, family-feel children’s homes in Heysham and rural North Lancaster. You’ll support up to four young people aged 8–18 with social, emotional and behavioural needs, working as a key worker to create a safe, homely environment, develop and follow care plans, lead activities, manage risk assessments and maintain high standards of record-keeping and safeguarding. The role pays a basic salary of £25,563.20 with the potential to reach £32,283.20 including sleep‑in payments (up to £6,720 annually; average 6–8 sleep‑ins per month at £70 each). Bay View’s homes are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted and offer a warm, supportive culture that values consistency and practical, person-centred care.
This position is ideal for experienced carers or those beginning a professional career in residential childcare — especially women who seek a nurturing, stable workplace with clear development routes. You must hold (or be prepared to achieve within two years) a Level 3 Diploma in Working with Children & Young People or complete the Level 4 apprenticeship, hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
