Job description
Devon County Council is looking for Residential Support Workers for its Ofsted‑registered children’s homes in Exeter (EX2) and across Devon. This permanent, full‑time role supports children and young people with complex needs in a home‑from‑home setting, delivering person‑centred care plans and helping to develop life skills. You will organise and take part in activities, create a positive atmosphere, use calm, consistent boundaries and innovative approaches to engage young people, and work towards aspirational outcomes. The salary range is £26,824–£28,598 with enhancements of up to £4,000 per year.
This role suits resilient, compassionate people — especially women carers seeking meaningful, flexible work — who can stay composed in challenging situations and build trusting relationships. Essential requirements include GCSE‑level numeracy and literacy, experience of working with young people with complex needs, fluent spoken English, a DBS disclosure and the ability to drive with access to a vehicle and business insurance; First Aid and other short courses are desirable. Devon County Council offers flexible working options, training, and an inclusive culture committed to safeguarding and equality.
