Job description
Senior Clinical Support Worker (XR03) at Leeds Teaching Hospitals, based at Leeds General Infirmary (LS1) — an enduring, Band 3 role (£24,937–£26,598 pa) offering permanent, full- or part-time hours in the Hand and Plastics Outpatients department. You will deliver hands-on and indirect compassionate care within a busy outpatient setting (typical hours 08:00–18:00 with some weekend opportunities), working alongside nurses, medics and admin staff to ensure smooth patient journeys. The post includes clinical duties after training — for example observations, wound care, catheter support, phlebotomy/ECG where trained, specimen handling, and assisting with nutrition, mobility and personal care — and involves leading and supporting a team of clinical support workers and apprentices. You must be comfortable working with vulnerable people, using PPE as needed, and escalating concerns appropriately in a multidisciplinary environment at LGI and across Trust sites where required.
This role suits experienced carers who hold NVQ3/Diploma Level 3 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care and can evidence health-care experience, good communication and basic IT skills; the Care Certificate must be attained within three months if not already achieved, and the post is subject to a DBS check. Leeds Teaching Hospitals promotes patient-centred, collaborative and respectful practice, offers on-the-job training for clinical competencies, and supports development and compassionate leadership — an excellent opportunity for someone who values meaningful patient contact, teamwork and flexible working.
