Job description
Senior Dental Officer (Band B) based in Rotherham — permanent, full‑time role paying £81,716–£95,579 per year (closing date 23 November 2025). You will deliver Level 2 community dental services across Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley and surrounding areas from bases such as Rotherham Community Health Centre, The Flying Scotsman Health Centre or New Street Health and Wellbeing Centre, with occasional cover at alternative clinics. The post involves assessment, diagnosis and treatment of children and adults with complex needs (learning disabilities, challenging behaviour, medical comorbidities, mobility or sensory impairments), including restorative care, periodontal treatment, routine and simple surgical exodontia, sedation where appropriate, local anaesthesia and management of medical emergencies. You will work across clinic, hospital and domiciliary settings, keep comprehensive clinical records and contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality standards expected by the Trust and regulators.
This role is for experienced clinicians with the Band B competencies who enjoy clinical leadership, training and cross‑disciplinary working. You will provide and organise training for colleagues, support service development, mentor staff, participate in appraisal and continuing professional development, and offer specialist advice to other health and social care professionals.
