Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) at University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, South Hams Hospital, Kingsbridge (TQ7). This Band 3, permanent role (full- or part-time; £24,937–£26,598 pro rata) supports Registered Nurses and the wider clinical team to deliver compassionate, patient-centred care. You will carry out a range of delegated clinical duties with minimal supervision — taking observations (blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, pulse and respiration), glucose monitoring, collecting and testing specimens, wound swabs and assisting with patient assessment and rehabilitation. Strong infection‑prevention practice, accurate record keeping and the ability to escalate concerns are essential; the post requires an appropriate Level 3 healthcare qualification (or equivalent), Level 2 English and maths (or equivalent) and a DBS check.

This role suits experienced carers or those keen to step up into senior support work — particularly women who value hands‑on patient care, team working and flexible hours that can fit around family life. The Trust offers real career development, supportive colleagues and a progressive working environment in a lively coastal city. Applicants from diverse backgrounds are encouraged; internal NHS staff and those requiring sponsorship will be considered.
