Senior Health Care Support Worker (SHCSW) – University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust, Stonehouse Ward, Plymouth (PL6). This permanent, full‑time Band 3 role places you on an acute specialist surgical ward caring for colorectal and hepatobiliary patients, including higher‑dependency level 1 beds. You will work under the supervision of registered nurses to deliver planned care, undertake clinical observations (blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturations, pulse, respiratory rate, glucose), collect and test specimens, perform limited clinical duties with confidence, contribute to patient assessments, maintain accurate written and electronic records and support patient self‑care while following infection prevention and safety policies. A Level 3 healthcare qualification (NVQ3/City & Guilds/BTEC or equivalent) and recent hospital experience caring for acutely unwell patients are essential; the post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and preference may be given to internal Trust staff and those on priority/at‑risk lists.

This is an excellent opportunity for a caring, organised practitioner—particularly women seeking a team‑oriented, development‑focused role—to broaden clinical skills within a supportive, experienced team. The Trust promotes continuing education, career progression and considers requests for flexible or less‑than‑full‑time working. The position is advertised at Agenda for Change Band 3 (salary range c. £24,937–£26,598) and applications from candidates who require Skilled Worker sponsorship are welcome.
