As a Senior Health Care Support Worker on Skylark ward at Mount Gould Hospital (Plymouth PL4 7QD) you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering hands‑on, compassionate care. The role involves carrying out a range of clinical and non‑clinical duties with minimal supervision — from observations (blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, pulse and respiration) and glucose monitoring to sample collection and wound care — while supporting registered practitioners, supervising junior staff and maintaining accurate electronic and written records. You will work to Trust policies on infection control, consent and patient safety and be expected to contribute to holistic patient assessment, promote self‑care and escalate concerns appropriately. This permanent Band 3 post offers a salary of £24,937–£26,598 (pro rata), flexible full‑ or part‑time patterns, and is subject to a DBS check. Closing date: 16 October 2025.
This opportunity is for experienced healthcare support workers or those with Level 3 qualifications (or equivalent demonstrable experience) who want to grow their clinical skills and lead by example. University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust provides training to ensure you have the core skills required for the role and support to achieve the Care Certificate if needed, with clear pathways for career development in a progressive, people‑centred Trust. Internal and NHS ‘At Risk’ applicants are given preference and skilled worker sponsorship applications are welcome.
