Provide hands-on physical health checks across Dorset for people living with serious mental illness, conducting observations such as venepuncture, ECGs, blood pressure, pulse, BMI, substance and alcohol screening, and routine measures. You will promote positive health interventions — smoking cessation, diet and exercise advice — signpost to primary care and hospital services, help set achievable health goals and support EIS key workers with physical health monitoring. The role involves visiting patients in their homes, building trusting relationships with people who may struggle to access care, keeping clear records and liaising with other agencies, all while following Trust policies and clinical supervision. Employed by Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust and based in Bournemouth (BH10), the post is permanent, full-time, Band 4 (£27,485–£30,162) and sits within a well‑respected, CQC‑rated Trust known for staff development and inclusive practice.

This position suits experienced carers with an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) or relevant clinical qualification, basic IT literacy and strong communication skills; you should be calm in emergencies, able to work independently and as part of a multi‑disciplinary team, and comfortable travelling to appointments by car. A Disclosure and Barring Service check is required and skilled worker sponsorship is not available.
