Job description
Support older people to regain independence as a Senior Therapy Support Worker (Band 4) with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based in Gloucestershire (GL1). Working within the integrated Care of the Elderly Therapy Team, you will deliver delegated occupational therapy and physiotherapy interventions, carry an autonomous caseload, complete assessments and treatment plans, and facilitate safe discharge through practical rehabilitation. The role includes supervising and delegating to colleagues, contributing to training and supervisions, and managing routine departmental administration. This permanent, part-time post offers a salary of £27,485 to £30,162 (pro rata), core hours Monday–Friday with the flexibility to cover operational shifts including weekends and public holidays — ideal for experienced carers who want meaningful, hands-on clinical responsibility in a supportive NHS setting.
You’ll bring proven experience as a physiotherapy or occupational therapy support worker in the NHS or another UK care setting, GCSEs (grade C) in Maths and English or equivalent, and either a foundation science degree or NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) with evidence of clinical reasoning and continuous professional development. Strong communication, compassion, resilience and the ability to work independently in challenging environments are essential; a UK driving licence is desirable and a DBS check is required. Gloucestershire Hospitals is one of the country’s larger trusts, guided by values of caring, listening and excelling, so you’ll be joining a team that values kindness and professional growth.
