As a Service Administrator based at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Exeter (EX2), you will provide calm, compassionate administrative support that helps patients navigate outpatient, day‑case and theatre appointments. You’ll coordinate bookings from waiting lists, set up and update clinics and theatre lists, monitor waiting times and referral‑to‑treatment pathways, and proofread clinical letters (no audio typing). This fixed‑term role (until April 2026) is band 3, part‑time at 26 hours per week to be agreed within 8am–5pm shifts and will include Fridays; salary is £24,937–£26,598 pro rata. The post is subject to a DBS check and is ideal for organised, empathetic carers and administrators who enjoy working in a busy hospital environment and making a real difference to patients’ journeys.

You don’t need prior medical typing experience to apply — what matters most are excellent communication and interpersonal skills, confidence on the telephone, strong IT ability and the capacity to prioritise and use your initiative under pressure. Secretarial experience, knowledge of hospital processes or medical terminology are desirable but not essential. The Trust promotes an inclusive, family‑friendly culture with support for training, study leave, occupational health and wellbeing services, generous annual leave entitlement, staff discounts, nursery provision, cycle‑to‑work and a comprehensive NHS pension.
