Support and supervise kinship foster carers and special guardians as a Supervising Social Worker, ensuring children who cannot remain with their parents are kept safely within family or friend networks wherever possible. This permanent role, advertised by inploi for Wigan Council, is child‑focused and regulatory‑minded: you will carry out assessments, prioritise safeguarding and stability, and provide practical, strengths‑based support to carers while maintaining professional records and compliance. The post is part‑time (18.5 hours per week) on Grade 9 (£19,931–£22,545.50 pa, pro rata), is subject to enhanced DBS plus child barred list checks, and requires proof of the right to work in the UK.
