Specialist Doctor for Community Hospitals in Ashford inAshford PUBLISHED WED 9 APR 2025 Jump to job information section
Job description
This is an exciting time to join us as a Specialist Dr in our Kent Community Health Community Hospitals, as we are reviewing our future model of care and developing our services, to deliver the best outcomes for our patients. If you have an interest in Frailty medicine, and want to deliver high quality care, this could be a great opportunity for you!
We have 9 Community Hospitals within Kent Community Health NHS Trust, across east and west Kent. The wards are staffed by multidisciplinary teams, who provide rehabilitation, reablement and recovery to patients post illness or injury. A majority of our patients are frail, with multiple comorbidities; and we provide specialist pathways for rehabilitation post-acute stroke and fractured neck of femur. The hospitals accept admissions from local acute Trusts, with a small proportion admitted directly from the community.
The medical model is supported by Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs), Speciality Drs and Consultants, and you will work as part of a team supporting a cluster of hospitals. You will be expected to provide clinical review, oversight, and assurance to the medical care of our patients, alongside providing a point of escalation for complex patient advice and guidance. You will support clinical quality and governance for the service.
We welcome the opportunity for research and quality improvement within our wards; and have recently commenced training of junior Drs and trainee GPs on our sites, and have an ambition to develop this further.
Many of our hospitals are based on the coast or in the Weald. The area lies in the heart of one of the most scenic stretches of countryside in England, and yet is accessible from London. It also has some of the best schools in the country. Our hospitals are based in Faversham, Whitstable, Deal, Thanet, Tenterden, Herne Bay, Tonbridge and Hawkhurst; and whilst routinely you will support a geographically based cluster of sites, there will be an expectation you may need to travel to any of them to work with our teams.
