Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated SLT to join our large team which includes specialists in many clinical areas. You will gain new skills, experiences and support Haringey and Barnet children and young people, their families, and schools. We have a strong focus on working with families and achieving the best outcomes for the children and young people.
It's an exciting time in both Haringey and Barnet. We are developing our Universal offers which run alongside the Haringey SLCN graduated response to identify and meet the needs of children and young people as early as possible and the ELSA programme in Barnet
The role is a 15 month fixed term, Band 5-6 run through. We welcome applications from current Band 5 or 6 SLTs with experience working in early years clinics or mainstream schools. Additional support and training will be offered for less experienced therapists. If applicant begins role on a Band 5 grade, once skills, experience and competencies are achieved, the post can progress to band 6 pay levels.
These posts have arisen from additional funding from the North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) aimed at reducing long waits for children's speech and language therapy assessment and intervention in Barnet and Haringey.
The post holders would form part of the Speech and Language Therapy Teams in one or both Boroughs, providing assessment, differential diagnosis, advice and intervention to children with speech, language and communication difficulties. The caseload would be a range of children in Early Years and/or Mainstream Schools depending on experience.
The post holder should have knowledge and experience of the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of developmental language disorder and social communication difficulties. In addition the post holder should be knowledgeable and experienced in assessing, treating and managing children and young people who have associated syndromes or special educational needs which interact with their language development.

To be responsible for clinical delivery of a specialist SLT service to carry out initial assessments and packages of care to a caseload of children with a range of speech, language and communication needs around the borough of Barnet and Haringey.
Complete assessments, write individual programmes, implement groups, provide specialist advice and resources and review outcomes with a functional based focus.
To work collaboratively with children, families and other professionals to achieve outcomes for individuals, providing support, programmes, ideas, advice and assessment.
To demonstrate clinical effectiveness by use of evidence-based practice and outcome measures. This requires knowledge of current research and agreed best practice in working in the field of specialism.
To provide a service considering the needs of clients from a range of ethnic and linguistic backgrounds.
To liaise with specialist teaching staff, classroom teachers and education support staff to provide specialist Speech and Language Therapy input to curriculum and programme planning.
To liaise closely with the Special Needs Services staff within Barnet and Haringey and with members of the Learning Support Services working with children.
To maintain close links with Speech and Language Therapy staff working in Early Years, School Age and Adult Teams within the trust to ensure smooth transition between phases as required.
