Job description
West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust invites passionate and driven individuals to embrace an exciting opportunity as a Specialty Doctor in Medical Microbiology and Virology. Collaborate with a team of esteemed Consultant Microbiologists to deliver first-rate clinical microbiology services and manage infection prevention and control, contributing to a major department within one of the East of England's larger Trusts. With significant advancements in molecular diagnostics, particularly in SARS-CoV-2 testing, the laboratory is at the forefront of healthcare innovation. This role encourages active participation in audits and service improvements to elevate the quality of care. Support the local Health Protection Unit and UKHSA in vital community health endeavours, focusing on infection diagnosis and prevention.
Successful candidates will engage in a variety of professional responsibilities, from daily ward rounds to ITU, providing expert clinical advice, and interpreting significant results. They will also participate in business planning, policy development, and clinical governance activities, ensuring adherence to national standards. The role involves leading and participating in clinical handovers, supervising trainees and students, and supporting antimicrobial stewardship.
