As a Student Support Midwife at Whittington Health (Whittington Hospital, N19, London) you will combine hands‑on clinical practice with coaching and assessment to shape the next generation of midwives. This part‑time, secondment Band 6 post (salary £46,419–£55,046 pro‑rata, inclusive of HCAs) works alongside the Clinical Practice Facilitator to support pre‑ and post‑registration students and their Practice Supervisors/Assessors. You will deliver and facilitate study days and practical workshops (for example suturing, live drills and PROMPT), undertake student clinical assessments and work clinically across all areas of maternity including intrapartum. The role requires a registered Midwife with at least two years’ RM experience, current Practice Assessor status, newborn examination qualification and advanced clinical skills (suturing, cannulation, maternal and neonatal resuscitation, managing PPH, shoulder dystocia and other emergency scenarios), plus competence in CTG interpretation and safeguarding practice.

This role suits compassionate, organised midwives — particularly women and carers seeking meaningful part‑time work that blends clinical expertise with mentorship and professional development. You’ll influence the quality of the learning environment, gain further experience in teaching and assessment, and work within a diverse, inclusive Trust that values staff wellbeing. The post is subject to a DBS check and requires UK professional registration; applications from those needing Skilled Worker sponsorship will be considered.
