Potens is recruiting a Support Worker for Oakleigh, a residential home in Dawlish caring for up to 11 adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs and some behaviours described as challenging. This permanent, on-site role is full-time (37 hours per week) at £13.00 per hour and involves mainly prompting and guiding rather than intensive personal care. You will support residents with everyday tasks – shopping, food preparation, cooking, cleaning and laundry – and help them access the community for walks, swimming, theatre and day trips. The role includes varied shifts, alternate weekends and bank holidays. There is a stated preference for male applicants due to service needs and drivers are preferred. All offers are subject to robust pre-employment checks, including an enhanced DBS and satisfactory references.

This is a supportive, development-led role that will suit compassionate, patient and flexible carers — including those new to care who want structured training and a clear progression route. Potens offers a contributory pension, a confidential 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme, paid learning and development (including recognised NVQ qualifications and Care Certificate), internal leadership sessions, staff discounts and a generous referral scheme. New starters benefit from a buddy system and ongoing mentoring in a diverse, inclusive workplace that values meaningful, person-centred support.
