Job description
Bradbury Manor short break service in Devizes (SN10) is recruiting a part‑time Support Worker to help adults access short breaks from home and build everyday skills. This permanent role is 26.5 hours per week and pays £13.47–£13.90 per hour, plus 10% unsocial hours plussage. You will work in a person‑centred way to plan and deliver meaningful activities, create menus that reflect medical needs and preferences, support personal and household tasks, assist with medication where required, and help customers with tenancy arrangements or moves into short‑break provision. Duties also include acting as a link with colleges, workplaces and leisure settings, providing emotional and practical support, and undertaking occasional sleeping‑in or waking night duties. The post operates from the Nursteed Centre in Devizes and is subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
This role suits caring, reliable people — particularly women who value flexible, part‑time hours that fit around life and family commitments — who already have experience working with vulnerable adults or who are ready to develop those skills. Essential attributes include effective communication, calm decision‑making, basic literacy and numeracy, and a willingness to work to safeguarding guidance; GCSE‑level education or equivalent is expected and you should be willing to undertake a Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care. Wiltshire Council offers a supportive 'One Council' culture with regular training and a 26‑week probationary period with ongoing reviews to help you settle in.
