One day you might be pottering around the garden sowing seeds, the next you might be off looking for pirate treasures and bottles washed up onshore. Contract: 12h per week Essential for this job: Driver essential who is willing to use their own car. Must be comfortable with supporting with personal hygiene e.g. bathing support Mike has a good sense of humour and enjoys laughing and chatting with his team. Mike’s hobbies include gardening, playing computer games, listening to a variety of music, treasure hunting, metal detecting, and watching 80’s cartoons, especially ThunderCats. Mike is wanting a driver in the team who wouldn’t mind using their own car, so that he can venture to places not accessible by public transport. Mileage is paid at 40p per mile. Mike is needing someone who can help with his interest in plants. Mike is autistic with a learning disability and needs support in understanding the ‘why’ and the ‘how’, but the team are there to find creative and unique ways of helping his understanding such as creating a bespoke newspaper that has helped Mike develop, think more about his health, and try new things. We are looking for someone who is keen to learn and develop so that Mike lives a fulfilled life, and you feel proud to be part of it. Day shifts are 9am to 9pm and waking nights are 9pm to 9am. The rota is done in advance to help accommodate a good work/life fit. There is an in-depth team induction to support you into the role. The team are working towards being self-directed so an element of leadership will be required as there won't be the traditional hierarchy normally seen in a team. That doesn't mean there are no development opportunities. We want everyone in the team to develop and to enjoy supporting Mike and being part of the organisation. Ideally you will: Have a good sense of humour. Be highly self-motivated. Be willing to learn and develop within your role. Have a passion for the work we do. Be a great communicator for Mike. Be forward thinking, willing to try new ideas and approaches. Have similar interests or be sympathetic to Mikes. Have good computer skills.
