 PERMANENT
Self-Employed Support Worker (No personal Care) LTES1236 — Eastbourne. This is a small, meaningful role supporting a 24-year-old woman who lives in Hampden Park with her grandparents and is keen to become more independent. You will focus on companionship and practical support rather than personal care: helping her access the community (she prefers Hastings and Brighton), boosting social interaction, encouraging confidence to explore work-from-home or volunteering opportunities, and building trust at her pace. Experience and understanding of autism is essential; duties include administration, shopping, cooking, transportation and general companionship. The employer would like a female worker (Equality Act 2010 exemption) who is patient, kind, creative, reliable and respectful of privacy.

Practical details: based in Eastbourne with around 6 hours a week (days and times to be agreed at interview), this vacancy may be offered on a self-employed or employed basis depending on agreement. A full driving licence and your own vehicle are required, and successful applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check; a non-smoker is preferred. Hourly pay and exact working pattern will be discussed at interview. Independent Lives is recruiting for this permanent, part‑time role — it’s an ideal position for women carers seeking a flexible, rewarding few hours a week where you can make a real difference.
