Support Worker ES3378 with Independent Lives in Uckfield — part‑time, permanent role paying £12.21 per hour. Two posts are available: Position 1 is 8 hours per week across four days (two weekend mornings; typical shift 07:30–09:30, days to be confirmed at interview) and Position 2 is 15 hours per week over three weekday evenings (16:00–21:00, days to be confirmed). This on‑site role requires a full driving licence and use of your own vehicle. You will support a 17‑year‑old autistic young man with associated learning difficulties who uses an ACC communication device. No previous experience is required — full training is provided — and your duties will include aiding communication, developing independence and functional skills, supporting occupational therapy for self‑regulation, personal care (grooming, dressing), companionship and, once trained, helping him access the local community and enjoyable activities. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK and be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check. Comfort with pets, good timekeeping, honesty, patience, basic English literacy and being fit for the physical aspects of the role are essential; a non‑smoker or willingness to refrain from smoking during working hours is preferred.

This is a rewarding, home‑based support role within a small team of family members and care staff that suits compassionate, reliable carers — particularly women seeking flexible part‑time hours that fit around life commitments. You’ll receive contracted hours with the option of additional flexible shifts, comprehensive training and, depending on agreement with the employer, either an employed contract (with holiday pay) or self‑employed engagement. Independent Lives is an equal opportunities employer and a Disability Confident member; an exemption under the Equality Act 2010 (Schedule 9) applies where the role is matched to a male service user.
