I’m very close to my children and grandchildren, who are wonderfully supportive. I take pride in my independence and enjoy being sociable, as I love meeting new people and building lasting friendships. I have a mild learning disability, along with anxiety and depression, and I can sometimes feel overwhelmed, especially if things are not explained clearly or in a way I can easily understand. I would really like to get out into the community more, take part in group activities with others who have similar abilities, and spend more time socialising. I feel that I still have a lot to offer, and I would love to be supported into volunteering or paid work. I’m especially interested in roles within care homes or day centres for the elderly, even if it’s just offering emotional support or helping with light tasks. I hold an NVQ Level 2 in Care and would be proud to put it to good use. I would also like support with meal planning, grocery shopping, batch cooking meals for the freezer, and keeping on top of domestic tasks in my flat. I’m hoping to explore local social groups and would appreciate having someone accompany me on initial visits. It’s also important to me to have someone to talk to about any problems I may be experiencing, and to work through solutions together to support my mental health. I would appreciate support in identifying when outside advice or additional help might be needed. If you are kind, patient, and enjoy helping people work towards their goals, I would love to hear from you.
