Job description
Play a pivotal role keeping vital communications running across Hywel Dda University Health Board by managing the Switchboard Service for Aberystwyth and Haverfordwest. You’ll oversee the smooth, cost‑effective running of switchboard operations — from staff management, sickness and recruitment, to incident coordination and the introduction of new telephony and paging systems — while supporting telephony standards and digital platforms. The role includes producing clear reports, infographics and KPI monitoring for Digital Services and senior managers, helping users get the most from digital systems, and making confident decisions during incidents or difficult conversations. This is a permanent Band 4 position (£27,898–£30,615) with full‑time hours and flexible working options, including home/remote working; base will be discussed at interview and will be either Withybush or Bronglais hospital locations in West Wales.
This opportunity suits experienced administrators and carers who want a purposeful, people‑centred job that values practical skills and compassion. You’ll need a Level 3 business administration qualification (or equivalent), strong clerical and digital skills (Microsoft Office, SharePoint, intranet), customer‑service experience and the confidence to train and lead colleagues; ITIL knowledge and Welsh language ability are desirable. The Health Board supports staff development and offers training to help you grow, with DBS checks and sponsorship applications considered where applicable.
