An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time, confident, positive and enthusiastic person to join our semi-rural practice.

The successful candidate will be required to have strong communication and good people skills, with a focus on professionalism and confidentiality. Also having an excellent level of IT skills with the ability to troubleshoot IT problems are all essential requirements for this post, making a valuable contribution to the overall performance of the practice.

You will be responsible for the day-today functionality of the organisation's IT systems, undertaking a wide range of IT Systems management duties to include the management of QOF, claims processes.

Duties can include but are not limited to, leading the running of patient searches and requested reporting data, administration of databases, user accounts, housekeeping, upgrades and general queries.

In addition, the post holder will be required to provide support to the multidisciplinary team, maintain the organisation's IT infrastructure, provide support to the team, ensure all issues are resolved or escalated in a timely manner and provide local training as necessary whilst ensuring all issues are resolved or escalated in a timely manner.

The following are the core responsibilities of the IT Systems Lead. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other task; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • The provision of a local support service to all staff, resolving issues with IT systems and equipment
  • Effective maintenance of all organisation IT infrastructure, including hardware, office systems, email, telephone, internet and clinical systems, minimising downtime
  • The provision of a local support service to all staff, resolving issues with IT systems and equipment
  • Ensure back-up and disaster recovery procedures are in place and effective
  • Perform regular system checks to maximise performance
  • Provide training to all staff as required, ensuring the effective use of all systems
  • Ensure staff adhere to practice policies regarding IT security and ensuring conformance to information governance
  • Deliver the IT related elements of the staff induction programme
  • Build, generate and carry out searches as required by the organisation team to enable reports to be produced and action plans devised
  • Support the team in the effective use of searches, audits and recalls
  • Act as a liaison between the organisation and external agencies, for the timely management of all faults
  • Ensure that the organisation website information is correct and that the details are in accordance with the GP website benchmarking and improvement tool.
  • Send out mail merges for a number of campaigns, i.e., flu
  • Support the Practice Manager with all elements of the online patient access software
  • Ensure the Practice Manager is updated regarding the release of patches and upgrades
  • The configuration (activation and de-activation) of all staff email accounts
  • Supporting the Practice Manager in the writing of all IT related policies and protocols and user guides
