This is a permanent, full time position.
The shift pattern for this position is, core service hours are Monday Friday (09:00-17:00), the service also covers rotational Saturday and Public holiday mornings (08:00- 1200) & rotational evening work (Monday - Friday17:00-19:00).
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Team Leader to join the Histology Department within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde. The Pathology Department provides a comprehensive analytical and Consultant led clinical Histopathology, Cytology and Post Mortem service to clinicians working within NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde and other Health Boards.
The post holder will : -
Core hours are 09:00-17:00 Mon -Fri, rotational cover Saturday & Public holidays 08:00-12:00, rotation evening cover 17:00-19:00 Mon-Fri.

- Supervise and coordinate the day to day technical activities of Specimen Reception within the Histology laboratory.
- Provide the advanced scientific and technical skills to process and deliver patient material in a suitable form for screening and or diagnostic purposes as an aid to effective diagnosis and treatment.
- Undertake routine and complex laboratory work within a specialist subdivision of the laboratory ensuring the work is performed in an efficient, organised and professional manner to provide a high quality, timely service.
- Assist the Speciality Manager in troubleshooting methods and/or processes and/or in defining and developing optimum methods.
- Work independently and/or with other staff to deliver the service to the standards set.
- Provide interpretative advice regarding specialist techniques to other laboratory professional groups.
- Lead a team of staff within Specimen Reception and monitor the performance of their team.
- Train and mentor more junior members of staff as required.
